How to Check What’s Draining Phone’s Battery Life

Android allows you to check which apps and processes drains the most battery. You can do this by going to Settings > Device or Device Care > Battery. The path may slightly differ depending on your Android version. You can also search for “battery” using the search feature in Settings. Scroll down and look under Usage by Apps section. Under this section, you can see which apps are using the most battery. Consider uninstalling unnecessary apps which are draining too much battery.

Several Ways to Make the Battery Life Last Longer

Here are several ways which will make your batter last longer.

Decrease Screen Brightness

Unless you have difficulty seeing the screen clearly, consider decreasing the brightness of your phone. Phone brightness can be adjusted by swiping down the Quick Notification bar or going through Settings > Display. You can also turn on adaptive display where the screen automatically adjust to the light level.

Also, consider turning off your screen after a short period of inactivity. For maximum effectiveness, turning off the screen after 30 seconds of inactivity should extend the battery life.

Turn off Location or GPS

When not in use, consider turning off your location or GPS settings. These features use a lot of battery by constantly searching for your location. In fact, even newer phones like Samsung Galaxy S10 can be fully drained of its battery power after just 1 or 2 hour of GPS usage.

Enable Power Saving Mode

Activating the Power Saving Mode can significantly prolong phone’s battery life. To enable, swipe down the quick notification bar from above. Tap Power Mode. Choose from the available options such as Restrict Background Data, Limit CPU Usage, Screen Brightness Level, etc. Power Mode can extend the battery life by almost a day in some phones.

If you are running really low on battery, consider turning on the Power Mode immediately to stretch the battery life a little longer.

Get Rid of Animated Wallpapers

Animated wallpapers are nice but they are terrible battery drainers. If you really want to prolong your phone’s battery life, consider having a static and beautiful wallpaper instead. To change your wallpaper, go to Settings > Display or swipe the home screen inward with two fingers. We actually have some free wallpapers for you: Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone X and iPhone 11.

Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use

We all depend on wifi to keep our social life up-to-date. However, wifi uses a lot of battery power. Consider turning it off once in a while when you don’t require it. Moreover, Bluetooth is often a rarely used option but many users always have it on. Unless you use Bluetooth devices to stream audio, consider keeping it off.

Watch Videos using Lower Screen Brightness

Some apps such as MX Player allows the user to adjust the screen brightness while a video is being played. If you stream a lot of videos, you will notice the battery simply dies within an hour or two. Consider downloading a reliable app which will allow you to adjust some video playback settings for optimal battery life.
